We’re very proud of Lucas for winning the U.S. Muay Thai Open tournament in Arizona. Lucas fought 3 fights in 2 days, winning the first by unanimous decision and the second and third by TKO (leg kicks). We’re also very appreciative of Crystal for coordinating the fight and making the trip out to be in Lucas’ corner.
Here’s the answer to our most commonly asked question! Everyone has their own personal method of hand wrapping–check out coach Antoni’s below!
A recent viral video has sparked a big discussion in the Jiu-Jitsu community about the application of sport Jiu-Jitsu in self-defense situations. In the video, a BJJ purple belt gets into an altercation during a pick-up basketball game. The situation quickly escalates, and after a brief exchange of words, punches are thrown. The attacker engages and knocks the purple belt off balance causing him to sit to half guard. Once on the ground the purple belt attempts submissions from several positions but is unable to finish. Thankfully both the purple belt and his opponent are uninjured at the end of the video when the fight is broken up. In response to the video, we filmed a video of our own to show you a super simple self-defense tip that anybody can use to stay safe in a similar situation.
